How do I FTP?

There are many methods to use file transfer protocol: windows explorer, front page, core ftp, dream weaver, etc.  Most of them ask for the same information; ftp username, password, host name or ip, and sometimes the directory to upload files.  Your ftp username is normally your main account username or the username you chose when setting up an ftp account in your control panel.  Your password is normally your main account’s password or the password you chose when setting up your ftp account.  The host name should be your domain name or the ip given to you in your welcome email.  The web directory to upload to is normally ‘www’ for linux hosting and ‘wwwroot’ for windows hosting.  Most ftp programs allow you to drag and drop your files onto the server, others do not.  It’s best to check with the help files of your ftp program to determine how to upload your files.
